Single Crochet Stitch
It uses 1 chain for the turning chain.
To work into a chain:
Insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, yarn over hook, and pull through the chain (2 loops on hook).
Yarn over hook and pull through the 2 loops on the hook (1 loop remains on hook).
Example
Chain 11.
Single crochet into 2nd chain from hook and into each chain across.
The chain skipped at the beginning does not count. Therefore 10 stitches remain.
